Teutopolis village board members Wednesday heard from Lori Runde of Farmweld and Canarm about the village's TIF agreement with the businesses.

The agreement states that Canarm will employ 15 to 30 people, but the company only has 10 fulltime employees. Runde said COVID hurt their facility, but said they have a bright outlook for 2023. She added that the TIF incentive was one of the main reasons Canarm came to Teutopolis. The Board will revisit the issue at their August 2 meeting.

Courtney Yockey from The Alliance spoke on grant program under the Coronavirus Business Resiliency Program. The grant would reimburse businesses for durable permanent or semi-permanent equipment purchased or rented to prevent, prepare for, or respond to COVID-19. It's a non-competitive program available on a first-come, first-served basis. The application period will run from August 15 to December 31.

Yockey also spoke about Teutopolis' Comprehensive Plan. The current plan was approved in early 2011 and Yockey said plans are usually reviewed every 10 years. The matters will be reviewed at the August 2 meeting.

Lee Beckman of Milano and Grunloh Engineers suggested the Board have its Preliminary Engineering work done before applying again for a sidewalk grant. The preliminary engineering would cost about $30,000. That issue will also be revisited at the August 2 meeting.

The Board accepted a quote from Water Treat Technology for $3,302.76 for sludge reduction tablets at the sewage lagoon; awarded the bid for street maintenance to Larry Heuerman Trucking for $94,044.69; passed an amendment to the village traffic code concerning a prohibition on compression and release engine braking; and passed release of a reverter on a lot in Prairie View Subdivision.
