Effingham Water Authority trustees this week discussed swimming pool regulations at properties around Lake Sara. At this time, above ground pools will not be allowed. The regulations will be tabled for now.

Trustees learned that Mediacom agreed to the changes the Water Authority had requested, including changing gross revenues from basic service to include all services in the service area. The rate will be 5%, which is the amount the Water Service receives currently.

Lake resident Wally Wax addressed the board regarding a property line dispute with his neighbor. There is also a problem with water not draining properly on the property. Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks will investigate the water situation, but Water Authority Chairman Rob Brown reminded Wax tht the Board does not get involved in property line disputes.

The matter of dirt bikes being ridden at the lake was revisited with Stacy Harshbarger and Lisa Borries each addressing the issue. The Board discussed the issue, then voted to schedule a special meeting when the dirt bike riders will be available to ride their bikes to determine the dust and noise level.

Scott Ealy addressed the Board regarding vendor regulations. Ealy asked to be exempt from removing the canopy at Kiki's Paddleboards, saying it would be a hardship to take the canopy down and put it back up each weekend. One trustee thought the canopy should be removed, while the other two thought that, due to the location, the canopy should stay up.

Jane Summers with the Fireworks Committee thanked the Board for the donation to the fireworks and for the help from the Water Authority crew. Summers suggested the VIP area be bigger next year, and that they had a power issue with the music. She also said they may need more porta potties or maybe space them differently.

There was also a report from Tom Ryan of the Parks and Rec Committee that a ground breaking ceremony for Phase 2 of the beach renovation project is set for tonight at 5:30pm.
