Two people were killed and three others were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Richland County Friday.

The crash happened on US Route 50 Eastbound, west of North Cottage Hill Road at approximately 6:50am.

Illinois State Police report a tractor trailer combination, a pickup truck, and a semi cab were all traveling east on Route 50. The semi cab driven by 32-year-old Cody M. Wolfe of Clay City was stopped at a stop sign being held by a construction worker. The pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Justin A. Lynn of Cisne was stopped behind Wolfe's vehicle. The semi driven by 18-year-old Jonathan J. Wilson of Taylorsville, Mississippi failed to reduce its speed and Wilson's rig rear-ended Lynn's pickup truck, pushing the pickup forward into the semi cab. Lynn's pickup truck caught on fire as a result of the crash.

Lynn and his passenger, 24-year-old Colten H. Stewart of Cisne, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Both Wilson and Wolfe and a passenger in Wolfe's unit, 23-year-old Zane R. Farrar of Louisville, were all injured and were taken for treatment.

Wilson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
