Friday Afternoon Crash Again Blocks Eastbound I-70 East of Effingham

Serious injuries were avoided in yet another crash in the I-70 construction zone east of Effingham Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 2pm near Eastbound Mile Post 100. Authorities say eight vehicles were involved, including four semis. There was no fire and no major injuries, even though one vehicle ended up at a 90 degree angle from the other vehicles involved and ended up vertical rather than horizontal. 

At one point, three IDOT dump trucks were parked across the eastbound lanes to block access. The roadway was reopened around 4:15pm.
