Cowden-Herrick school board members Thursday voted to add parental and student sign-off for transportation to sporting events not provided by Cowden-Herrick Schools for the coming school year.

The move was made so the district wouldn't be liable in case of problems while the students are utilizing private transportation.

The Board also set rental fees on school facilities as $40 rental fees for four hours and $80.00 for all day usage, plus a $60 deposit.

In personnel moves, the Cowden-Herrick board hired Marc Bain as boys varsity and JV basketball coach.  He coached at the junior high this past season.  The Board earlier decided against rehiring Bruce Manola as varsity coach, and Jay Huddleston resigned at Thursday's meeting as JV coach.

Also in personnel action, the Board accepted Mrs. Hammond's retirement and to purchase her Teachers Retirement System upgrade...accepted Stacey Heiserman's resignation...and rehired JoAnn Moutrey as district treasurer.  The Board also employed Jake Thompson and Denny Vaughn as 5th and 6th grade basketball coaches...hired Chandler Ward at Herrick and Colton Burrus and Colton Evans at Cowden as summer help...and engaged McGuire, Yuhas, Huffman and Buckley to do the fiscal year audit work.  It was also agreed to advertise for a bus driver.
