Fatal Crash Near Kinmundy

A 19-year-old Rockford man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on northbound I-57 near the Kinmundy-Patoka exit Thursday morning.

Marion County Coroner Troy Cannon says Alec Glaser apparently fell asleep and his vehicle drifted off onto the right shoulder, went through a ditch, and struck a tree. Glaser was apparently killed instantly. Glaser had been traveling from Atlanta, Georgia to Rockford.

The accident investigation is being handled by State Police. Kinmundy/Alma Fire and EMS and Marion County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.

The crash was first reported at 6:07 Thursday morning.
