Park Board Annexes Property, Hears About Skate Park Progress

Effingham Park Board commissioners Wednesday voted to annex four parcels of property into the park district. 

The four parcels are at the intersection of Rickelman and 4th Streets, and follows the city's annexation of the parcels into the city limits.

Park commissioners also approved the prevailing wage rate for contracted work for the coming year.

Park District Director Jeff Althoff reported that Phase One of work on the skate park at Hendelmeyer Park has been completed, and that fundraising will begin in hopes Phase Two will be completed by early next year. A reminder that Ham City Jam for 2023 is coming up at Hendelmeyer Park on Saturday, July 22. Professional skateboarder and director Steve Berra will be among those in attendance. He is co-founder and co-director of the skateboarding website The Berrics. 

Althoff also reminded that a pickleball tournament is set for this coming weekend, also at Hendelmeyer Park, and that signup will begin soon for flag football and fall soccer.
