Longtime Unit 40 teacher and administrator Jason Fox is on the job as Superintendent of the Richland County Unit #1 school district in Olney.

Fox was hired by the Richland County board in February, effective July 1, 2023 to succeed retired superintendent Chris Simpson.

Fox served in Unit 40 beginning in 1999 as a teacher at Effingham High School and went on to serve as Effingham Junior High School principal, Effingham High School principal, and as assistant superintendent for the district. He most recently served as Director of Human Resources for Decatur Public Schools.

In accepting the position with Richland County, Fox said, “To have the opportunity to serve the Richland County Community as Superintendent of Schools is an incredible blessing. Throughout my time in education, the Richland County School District has been a beacon in downstate Illinois. I look forward to working alongside the board of education, administrators, staff, students and community to build upon that strong foundation."
