Newton Man Found Deceased

On Thursday June 22, 2023 at approximately 11:15 am, the Effingham Police Department was notified by an individual of an unresponsive male at an apartment at 107 Hendelmeyer in Effingham, Illinois.

The individual had gone to the residence to check on him as he failed to show up to work.

Effingham Police Officers and Rural Med EMS arrived and found a deceased white male in an upstairs bedroom.

The male was identified as Justin Pittman, age 32 of Newton, Illinois.

Pittman was staying at the apartment while the home owner was out of town.

The Effingham County Coroner’s Office and the Effingham City Police Detective Section were notified and responded to the residence.

There were no injuries or traumato the deceased individual.

An autopsy is scheduled for June 23, 2023 at 10 am at theChampaign County Regional Autopsy Center to determine the official cause of death.

Toxicology samples will be collected at the autopsy.The investigation continues by the Effingham Police Department Detective Section andthe Effingham County Coroner’s Office.
