(JOSHUA BURGER)

Edgewood resident Joshua Burger has been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a series of vehicle burglaries.

The 19-year-old Burger was arrested the evening of March 23 in connection of 11 incidents of burglary from a motor vehicle earlier that day, as well as incidents of felony theft and criminal trespass to real property, along with six counts of theft.

Effingham city police received 11 reports of vehicles that were broken into and items stolen between midnight and 6am. The unlocked vehicles were located in the areas of Clinton, St. Anthony, Edgar, Mulberry, Cherry and Franklin.

Police began receiving complaints of burglaries in and around the 700 block of Clinton Avenue. Investigating officers identified a suspect after a victim shared security footage with the officers. Police received a separate and unrelated call for service later that morning, leading to Burger's arrest. He has been in custody since his arrest.

Burger will be placed on one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison.
