Altamont Council Swears in New Members

Altamont city council members reorganized this week in the wake of the April election.

Dan Milleville, who had been a city commissioner, was sworn in for his first term as Altamont mayor. Incumbent Mike Walker was sworn into another term as commissioner. Walker will oversee parks and cemeteries and serve as Commissioner of Accounts and Finances. Tayler Polk was sworn in for another term as Commissioner of Streets and Public Improvements. Jason Rippetoe, who did not seek re-election as mayor but then was elected as a write-in candidate for commissioner will oversee the electric department and will serve as Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. Terry White was elected as a write-in candidate for commissioner and will oversee the water and sewer departments as Commissioner of Public Property.

All other city officials were re-appointed, and Taylor Law will continue to serve as legal counsel. 

The Council also approved a partial payment of $31,500 to CliftonLarsonAllen for audit work, approved an outdoor liquor license to the Altamont VFW Post for an outdoor barbecue fundraiser for the Altamont Fire Department on June 4; and approved a lease agreement with Alex Conner for an 8-1/2 acre tract of ground at the south wastewater treatment plant to farm with a cash crop for $1,200.
