Information Concerning Vacancy on Unit 40 School Board

Effingham Unit #40 is accepting letters of interest to fill a vacancy on its Board of Education. The individual selected will serve from the date of appointment through the April 2025 election.

Applicants for the school board vacancy must meet the following guidelines:

 Be a U.S. citizen

 Be at least 18 years of age

 Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment

 Be a registered voter

 Not be a child sex offender

 Not hold another incompatible public office

 Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District

 Not be a school trustee

 Not hold certain types of prohibited State or Federal employment

Individuals interested should send a letter of interest along with the following information:

1) include a statement of why you wish to become a Unit #40 Board member

2) description of any background/experience that supports interest of serving on the Unit #40 Board of Education

3) include contact information

Letters of interest may be dropped off or mailed to the Unit #40 Board Office at 2803 S. Banker St., PO Box 130, Effingham, IL 62401. Deadline is 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2023.
