North Clay School Board Has Packed Agenda

North Clay school board members reorganized for the new term this week, following the April election.

The new board officers are President Barry Adair, Vice-President Ryan Ballard, and Secretary Aaron Kincaid. 

The Board set registration dates for July 31 to August 4 for online signup and August 2 for in person registration.

North Clay board members rehired all non-certfied staff other than those given notice of non-renewal for the coming school year, hired summer school staff, renewed membership in the IESA, approved substitute pay and officials pay for the coming school year, and approved a bid for a propane-powered bus.

The Board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Flora Public Library for the coming school year, agreed to post a high school English teacher position for the coming school year, reminded that 8th grade promotion will be May 8 at 6:30pm, recognized recent accomplishments by the North Clay FFA chapter, and heard that North Clay assistant principal and athletic director Rich Grubaugh received the South Central Basketball Officials Association Hospitality Award.

North Clay board members approved Kelby Kessler as a volunteer boat captain, hired Sarah Zink as full-time Art teacher for the coming school year, approved an unpaid leave request for James Rush, accepted the resignation of Melissa Macklin as bus driver effective April 24 and retained her as a sub bus driver, approved deduct/dock days for Christina Sisk, and authorized the administration to hire an elementary teacher for the coming school year.

The Board hired Denise Givens as head high school girls basketball coach, Andy Romack as head high school girls softball coach, Gracey Himelic as assistant high school girls softball coach, Larry Gariepy as volunteer assistant high school girls softball coach, Callaway Campton as high school fresh-soph boys basketball coach, Ian Bailey as volunteer assistant high school boys basketball coach, Jazmyn Rodriquez as high school fresh/soph girls volleyball coach and Kathy Smith as junior high head cheerleading coach, all for the coming school year.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Chrissy Erwin as high school and junior high scholastic bowl coach, but retain as a volunteer coach, accepted the resignation of Megan Welty as junior high head girls volleyball coach, accepted the resignation of Anthony Boose as junior high volunteer assistant boys baseball coach, then hired Boose as junior high assistant boys baseball coach, released a bus chaperone at the conclusion of this school year as a chaperone will no longer be needed and accepted the resignation of Sariah Forth as paraprofessional and as volunteer assistant high school scholar bowl coach.
