Full Effingham County election returns are located here.

The five incumbents on the Effingham City Council were all re-elected Tuesday.

Mayor Mike Schutzbach was elected without an opponent, receiving 860 votes.

The four incumbent commissioners were also all returned for another four-year term. Larry Micenheimer received 662 votes, Merv Gillenwater 617, Libby Moeller 608, and Hank Stephens 606. Past city council member Don Althoff received 459 votes and Dustin Brown received 399 votes.

Four members were also elected Tuesday to the Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education. Those elected are Jill Wendling with 1,072 votes, Jane Willenborg 967, Scott Volpi 751, and Andrew Altman 716. Also running were Desha Wear 693, Cary Harper 564 and Dallas Bear 538.

No more than three board members can be from given territories. Wendling, Willenborg and Altman are from the same territory, but they are the only three members from that territory. Volpi will join holdover board member Steve Bone from their territory. Chad Thompson is the only member from his territory.

There is still an unexpired two-year term on the Unit 40 board to fill. No one ran for the unexpired term, so the Board will have to appoint someone to the seat.

The Teutopolis Unit 50 Board ended up electing four members, but the top votegetters won't all be seated because of the three-person per territory limit.

Edward Siemer was the leading votegetter in Effingham County with 437 votes. There was room for just one to be elected from his territory. Paul Hardiek, who received one less vote, did not win in Effingham County, but did come out on top when votes from Shelby and Cumberland County portions of the school district are added in. Adam Hoene with 412 votes was elected, as were Chad Hewing and Laura Hemmen with 278 votes and 256 votes, respectively.

Dan Milleville was elected mayor of Altamont, edging Mike Bowman 157-143. Michael Walker and Tayler Polk were re-elected commissioners, with write-in votes to help decide who will fill the other two seats.

Christina Mette, Bernard Hartke and Daniel Zerrusen were elected village trustees in Teutopolis.

Jeff White, Fred Bray and Carrie Galbreath were elected village trustees in Dieterich.

Matt Dasenbrock and Russell Sehy were elected to new terms on the Effingham Park Board. Dasenbrock will replace Jason Semple, who did not seek re-election.

Turnout for the election was very low. 3,258 votes were cast of 23,892 eligible voters. That's 13.64%.
