Fatal Camper Fire Sunday Morning in Fayette County

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office was dispatched by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to the scene of a fatal camper fire near Bluff City early Sunday morning. 

Fayette County Chief Deputy Coroner Tony Brooks pronounced the yet to be positively identified victim deceased at 6:03 a.m.  An autopsy will be performed at the Champaign County Morgue today to confirm the positive identity of the victim.

Investigation into the incident continues by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Fire Marshal. Also present at the scene was the Vandalia Fire Department.
