One Killed, One Injured in Richland County Crash

One person was killed and one person was injured in a crash in Richland County Tuesday afternoon.

Illinois State Police say 55-year-old Meledy Blumberg of West Liberty was fatally injured when her van collided with a truck at 3pm on Illinois Route 130 near Richland County Road 1400 North. 

Police say the truck, driven by 55-year-old Timothy Johnson of Dundas, was traveling north on the highway, while Blumberg's van was traveling south. For unknown reasons, the truck crossed the center line and struck Blumberg's van. 

The Richland County Coroner pronounced Blumberg dead at the scene of the crash. Johnson was transported by ambulance for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately five hours during the crash investigation.
