LOUISVILLE -- There was a special board meeting of the North Clay Board of Education Monday evening at the Unit Office in Louisville.

Tony Smith took the oath as appointed board member, replacing Troy Britton, who resigned earlier in the school year.

During open session, an issue with the structural damage to the roof of the bus barn was discussed. There is leakage within the roof and some of the posts of the structure have become unattached from the ground. The board directed Superintendent Aldrich to puruse the matter and bring information to an upcoming board meeting.

Also discussed were issues with the current unit office. During a recent rain, there was over 12 inches of water accumulated in the basement. Several permanent records were ruined along with furniture and equipment. All security cameras were destroyed from the flooding. It was discussed that the Unit Office could possibly move into either the high school or grade school in the future.

Discussed was the possibility of moving the office into the old Industrial Arts building. Another option was to move into the current band room near the Commons and having the band move into the Industrial Arts area. Also discussed was the future of the office structure currently. It is in need of HVAC, roofing, etc. The board tabled the discussion.

Motions were made to hire Jeremy Edwards as elementary/junior high physical education teacher and as head junior high boys basketball coach for the 2013-14 school year. Both motions were approved. Also approved were the hiring of Jessica Johnstone-Guzman as elementary teacher, David Roush as district band teacher, Jessica Percival as high school science teacher, Lisa Worman as special education teacher and Sarah Newby as high school head volleyball, all for the 2013-14 school year.
