Car Fire Causes Delay on Interstate Monday

A car fire resulted in a shutdown of southbound I-57 north of Mattoon Monday afternoon.

Illinois State Police reported that the fire occurred about 3:20pm at Milepost 195, which is about five miles north of the Illinois 16 interchange at Mattoon. 

The driver of the car was not injured. Traffic was rolling again by 4:30pm.
