Stew-Stras Board Sets 2023 Graduation Date

Stewardson-Strasburg school board members set graduation day for May 21; junior high at 1:30pm, high school at 3pm. 

The Board also approved next year's school calendar; heard an update from Superintendent Justin Deters that the Innovation of Technology Department of Illinois is providing funds for no-cost Internet service; and approved the purchase of upgrades for the high school gym sound system including wireless headsets.

Board members accepted a Clean Energy grant to obtain a new electric bus at no cost to the District; approved continuance of Nichols Lawn Care through 2025; and heard that Briar Smith was selected and participated in the ILMEA All-State Orchestra.

The Board heard that student Kinsley Dunaway won second place in the student in the Hoop Shoot Contest. 

In personnel moves, the Stew-Stras Board accepted the resignation of Kaylee Purcell as a special education teacher, denied the resignation of Jaden Widdersheim as junior high boys basketball coach, and approved the hiring of Josh Spannagel as junior high baseball assistant coach.
