Teutopolis Board Sets 2023 End of Year Dates

Teutopolis school board members Monday amended the current school year calendar to reflect the snow day taken on January 25. As of now, the tentative last student attendance day will be May 18, with a Teachers Institute on May 19.

The Board also tentatively set high school graduation for Sunday, May 21 at 2:30pm, with junior high promotion on Thursday, May 18 at 7:30pm. Also, an agreement was renewed with the Regional Office of Education for alternative education programs for the coming school year, and a senior class trip to Indianapolis was approved.

The Board approved a three-year gas supplier contract with AGE/Direct Energy, and heard that Teutopolis Education Foundation mini and mega grants will be approved this week.

In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board accepted the irrevocable letter of retirement or resignation from Al Church effective at the end of this school year, from Greg Beck effective at the end of December 2025, from Vicky Simmons as of the end of the 25-26 school year, and from Diana Grinestaff as of May 1, 2023. 

Several people were hired, including Jackson Vonderheide as high school track assistant coach, Andy Borries as fresh-soph baseball coach for this spring only, Jon Lee as high school tennis coach, Toby Isley as 7th grade girls track coach, Gavin Huber as 7th grade boys track coach, Matt Weidner as 8th grade boys track coach, reassigned Rachel Habing as 8th grade girls track coach, and Jennifer Weidner as junior high assistant track coach.
