Minor Damage Done at House Fire on Northwest Side

A fire in a chimney in a local residence started to spread into the attic of the home, resulting in a call for local firefighters Thursday morning.

The call came about 10:45am to Becca McIntire's home at 1004 Ashwood Avenue. 

Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum said the fire was quickly brought under control, but crews checked the residence to make sure that the fire spread no further. 

No one was injured. The residents were home at the time of the fire. 

Effingham and Teutopolis firefighters were called to the scene. Firefighters were clearing the scene just before 11:30am.
