A person who has worked hard to help others has been named the 2023 Citizen of the Year.

Molly Bushue was awarded the honor at the Annual Chamber Gala sponsored by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce. The Citizen of the Year is sponsored annually by the Effingham Daily News.

While Bushue has worked hard for the FISH and Catholic Charities Christmas Store for the past several years, we have grown to appreciate her for her role in the Christmas Store's ties to the X-A-Thon and KJ-A-Thon held each year on Classic Hits 979XFM and KJ Country 102.3. The Christmas Store has benefitted hundreds of people throughout the area through the years.

Bushue has also worked on behalf of the Effingham County CEO Program.

Kim Stanfield was honored as Volunteer of the Year. That award is sponsored annually by the Effingham/Teutopolis News Report.
