A temporary restraining order has been granted in the Effingham County lawsuit brought against Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Senate President Don Harmon and House Speaker Chris Welch regarding the weapons ban legislation signed into law by Pritzker earlier this month.

Judge Joshua Morrison said the TRO is effective immediately, and that the defendants are precluded for enforcement of the measure. The ruling involves Accuracy Firearms of Effingham and 866 others who signed on as co-plaintiffs in the suit.

Accuracy Firearms Co-Owner Levi Slater said of the decision, "I think we're all pretty excited that it went this way. This is one small step. This needs to be for all the citizens of the state of Illinois." Slater added, "It's a good day for the Second Amendment."

Judge Morrison also scheduled a preliminary hearing to further consider action in the matter. That hearing will take place on February 1.
