Those impacted by the war in Ukraine will have a little Christmas relief thanks to Effingham County.

The Cross Foundation announced that a final check has been sent as part of the local fundraiser started earlier this year.  In total, more than $90,000 has been contributed by donors from the region.  Working with, Fr. Marcin Kokoszka, the finance director for the Tarnow Diocese in Poland, all donations from the highly successful campaign have supported Ukraine refugees that fled to Poland.

The Cross Foundation, in making the announcement, particularly cited the leadership of Christy Hakman and Carol Toney who spearheaded the effort.  Also, special thanks to Fr. Michal Rosa, Sacred Heart Pastor, for coordinating activities in Poland.

Donors included individuals, businesses and numerous Christian faith organizations.
