Friday, May 31, is the deadline to enter the Effingham County Fair Queen Pageant and Junior Miss Effingham County Pageant.
The queen pageant will be held Tuesday, August 6, while the Junior Miss Pageant will be held Sunday, August 4.
Young ladies between the ages of 16 and 21 are needed to participate in the Fair Queen Pageant. Contestants will be judged on their personal interview, physical fitness in a swimsuit and poise in an evening gown. No entry fee or talent portion of the competition is required.
The winner will receive a cash scholarship, plus numerous other prizes and an all-expense-paid weekend to compete for the title of Miss Illinois County Fair Queen in January.
Junior Miss Pageant directors are seeking contestants in Grades 6 thru 8 to compete for the title. Categories of competition include casual wear, party wear and interview. Judges will also be looking for poise, personality and leadership within her school and community. There is no talent competition.
The Effingham County Fair Board and local merchants award cash plus numerous prizes including a crown, sash and plaque.
Informational meetings for both contests will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at Christ's Church on Veterans Drive in Effingham. The Junior Miss informational meeting will begin at 6:30pm, while the Fair Queen informational meeting will begin at 7:30pm.
Practices for the Fair Queen Pageant will be held every Tuesday until the week of the fair.
