List of Filings for April 2023 Election

5pm Monday was the deadline for candidates to file for the April 2023 election.

Here's a rundown as to who filed for what:

EFFINGHAM CITY COUNCIL--

Incumbent Mike Schutzbach for Mayor

Incumbents Hank Stephens, Larry Micenheimer, Merv Gillenwater and Libby Moeller, along with challengers Dustin Brown and Don Althoff for commissioner. Althoff filed at the end of the filing period. He is a past member of the City Council as well as the Effingham County Board. Four of the commissioner candidates will be elected.

EFFINGHAM UNIT 40 BOARD OF EDUCATION--

Incumbents Jane Willenborg, Jill Wendling and Desha Wear, along with challengers Dallas Bear, Andrew Altman, Cary Harper and Scott Volpi. Five are to be elected, as one seat is an unexpired term. Current Board President Robin Klosterman and another incumbent Brad Waldhoff are not seeking re-election. 

ALTAMONT UNIT 10 BOARD OF EDUCATION--

Incumbents Dane Milleville, Martin Reyes and Chris Guse, along with challenger Derek Bowman. Robert Roedl and Alonzo Shoaf filed for an unexpired two-year term.

BEECHER CITY UNIT 20 BOARD OF EDUCATION-

Lee Roadarmel, Jordan Shields, Ryan Schaefer, David Doty, Aaron Summers and Christopher Doedtman who is seeking an unexpired two-year term.

DIETERICH UNIT 30 BOARD OF EDUCATION--

Cory Niebrugge, Thad Goebel, Anita Bierman and Marvin Iffert

TEUTOPOLIS UNIT 50 BOARD OF EDUCATION--

Incumbents Chandler Hewing and Cari Buehnerkemper, along with Laura Hemmen, Scott Copple, Edward Siemer, Kari Thompson, Jessy Draves, Paul J. Hardiek, Adam Blickem, Adam Hoene and Katie Niemerg. Thompson is seeking an unexpired two-year term.

Three people filed for two seats on the Effingham Park Board. They are incumbent Russ Sehy and challengers David E. Dust and Matt Dasenbrock. 

Three people filed for the three seats on the Lake Land College Board of Trustees. Those are the three incumbents, Mike Sullivan and Doris Reynolds, both of Mattoon, and Denise Walk of Teutopolis. 

We will be doublechecking Tuesday on filings for Altamont City Council. As of mid-afternoon Monday, two incumbent commissioners, Tayler Polk and Mike Walker, have filed for new terms, while the other two incumbent commissioners, Todd Slingerland and Dan Milleville, have filed to run for mayor.
