Deputies Investigating Crash in Bishop Creek Area

Effingham County sheriff's deputies are investigating a crash that occurred late Wednesday night in the Bishop Creek community.

About 10pm, a vehicle ran off the roadway and came to rest in a field. The crash happened near the original Higgs Welding location. 

A man found inside the vehicle was injured in the crash. He told authorities another person had been in the vehicle, but had left the scene on foot. The man found in the vehicle was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Authorities searched the area for the other individual the injured man said had been in the vehicle, but could find no one.

An investigation into the crash continues.
