Fayette County Officials Begin New Terms

Fayette County Board members have elected Jake Harris as board chairman, moving up from vice-chairman.

Merrell Collins was chosen vice-chairman.

The Board in a special meeting last week saw Josh Morrison sworn in as Fayette County Resident Circuit Judge after being elected to the post in November.

That left the State's Attorney's post open and former assistant state's attorney and current Public Defender Brenda Mathis was appointed to the office. Mathis will serve until the November 2024 election.
