Busy Night for Altamont School Board

The Altamont Community Unit School District #10 Board of Education held a Tuition Waiver Hearing at 6:45 Monday night. A description of the waiver was explained along with evidence of all required No written comments were submitted in advance of the hearing and no public comments were made at the hearing. 

The Board then went into their regular meeting and approved the superintendent to submit a tuition waiver application to the Department of Legislative Affairs to allow non-resident children of full time employees of Altamont CUSD #10 to attend Altamont Schools tuition free. 

They also approved the FY22 Audit and agreed to add a high school business teacher for the 23-24 school year in order to add the following courses: Service Learning, Diversified Occupations, Accounting 1 & 2, Keyboarding and Computer Concepts & Software Applications. 

A FFA overnight trip request to attend the Build Conference in Bloomington was also approved along with the purchase of a John Deere Z997R from Sloan Implement and the maintenance grant application. 

Personnel matters included the Board accepting the resignation of Bonnie Lester as paraprofessional, although she will remain on as student council co-advisor through the remainder of the school year. Holly Homann was hired as a Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach and Eric Long was approved as a volunteer coach for both the High School Girls and Boys Basketball Teams.
