The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is participating again this year in a "No Shave November" cancer awareness fundraising effort.

Through the month of November, Sheriff's Office personnel who pledge to donate $40.00, or $10 a week, will be excused from shaving.

Sheriff Paul Kuhns said to allow female officers and employees to participate, the office will partner with Nikki Hilton of Bladez Salon. For a donation, Nikki will fit a colored hair extension to any customer that wishes to show support to the cause and to raise awareness. Nikki will then donate all money raised to Fear Nothing.

The sheriff said if you see a uniformed Effingham County deputy or employee in need of a shave, or wearing a colored hair extension, you're asked to donate to the cause. You can give your donation to any uniformed Effingham County deputy or take it to the sheriff's office and ask that the money be directed to Lieutenant Travis Buhnerkempe.

Fear Nothing Cancer Support is a non-profit organization that provides $50,000 to $75,000 a year to local people battling cancer in Effingham, Cumberland, Shelby, Jasper, Clay and Fayette counties.

Sheriff Kuhns said he thanked Fear Nothing founder Jodi Waymoth for her hard work and dedication to the cause.
