Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault Counts Filed in Shelby County

A Lakewood resident has been charged in Shelby County with Class X Felony counts of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

19-year-old David Owens is accused of secretly confining the alleged victim against her will Saturday, while armed with a dangerous weapon, that being a knife. Further, Owens is accused of committing three counts of forcible sexual penetration against the alleged victim while displaying, threatening to use, or using the knife.

The aggravated kidnapping charge is punishable by up to six to 30 years in prison. The aggravated criminal sexual assault charges are punishable by up to 16 to 40 years in prison. 

Owens' bond was set at $2,000,000. He will next appear in court on November 16 for a preliminary hearing.
