Effingham City Police Department responded to 608 Park Hills Drive in Effingham at 1:18pm Monday to conduct a welfare check on an individual who resides there. Officers arrived and found a female deceased at the residence. The female was identified as Amanda Renee Durnil, age 36, of Effingham. The Effingham City Police Detectives arrived, processed the scene and collected evidence.
It was learned that Mrs. Durnil failed to pick up her two young sons at the designated time and location, which resulted in the welfare check by police.
The Coroner’s office was notified and responded to the residence. Preliminary investigation indicated there was no trauma or injury to Mrs. Durnil. Mrs. Durnil was transported by the Coroner’s office to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.
Medical records were requested and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 9am to determine the official cause of death.
The death remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner’s office and the Effingham City Police Department.
