Three people were injured in a weekend crash south of Effingham.

The crash happened at 6:39pm on US Route 45 at 650th Avenue, a short distance south of the junction with Illinois Route 37.

Illinois State Police report a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Crystal Pocrnich of Mason was southbound, while a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Ethan Norsic of Shelbyville was headed northbound. Police say Norsic lost control of his car and the unit veered into the southbound lane. Authorities say Norsic overcorrected, causing his car to go into a slide. The rear end of Norsic's car slid off the roadway and struck a guard rail, and Pocrnich's car struck the Norsic vehicle.

Norsic, Pocrnich and a juvenile girl from Mason riding with Pocrnich were all injured and were taken for treatment of what police termed non-life-threatening injuries.
