Experts say companies are already buying up land in Illinois to start digging deep into the ground and siphoning oil out of shale rocks.

It's a process called fracking and now lawmakers say they need to impose strict regulations to make sure people are protected.  A House committee passed the bill yesterday, but opponents want lawmakers to put a moratorium on fracking.  They say it poses serious health risks to people who live and work near the fracking sites.
