Cumberland school board members this week heard about end of year dates.

Report cards will be handed out May 31 at the grade school with early dismissal on May 28 and 29 and a teacher's institute on May 30.  The middle school will have 8th grade promotion night on May 24 at 6pm.  Final exams at the high school will be taken May 28 and 29 with report cards awarded on May 31.

Cumberland board members agreed to lease two school buses through Midwest Transit.  They also heard financial projections from Superintendent Russell Ragon, who said the district will receive between $350,000 and $400,000 less in funding from the State for the next fiscal year.

Board members heard that the Neal Foundation and First Neighbor Bank of Toledo will be making contributions to the district.  The Neal Foundation approved a request for $11,000 to purchase band uniforms for the high school.  The Foundation, with First Neighbor Bank, has also agreed to purchase a scoreboard for the football field.  A dedication ceremony for the new scoreboard will be scheduled towards the end of July when Cumberland hosts a JFL Jamboree.

Cumberland board members also employed Tiffany Richter as a fulltime elementary teacher for next school year and accepted a letter of resignation from Jason Beintum as of the end of the current school year.
