Farina Man Gets 18-Year Prison Term for Drugs

Farina resident Roger McCarty has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. 

The 59-year-old McCarty pleaded guilty this week in Clay County Circuit Court to a Class X Felony count of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine. The offense occurred in May of 2021. McCarty will serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

The Clay County State's Attorney's Office thanked the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, Flora Police Department and Clay County Sheriff's Office for their work in the investigation and apprehension of McCarty. Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said, "We will continue to work wtih our local law enforcement to combat methamphetamine dealers in Clay County."
