Hundreds of Ameren customers in Stewardson and Strasburg were left without electric service late Monday night after storms visited the area.
Marcelline Love of Ameren Illinois said the first reports of outages were received around 11:30pm. Love said the outages were caused by tree damage and by broken power poles. She said reports of damage were also received from Windsor, Tuscola and Danville.
More than 700 customers in Stewardson and Strasburg were impacted by the outages. However, since Stewardson-Strasburg School is located in the country between the two communities and their cooperative didn't lose service, power was on at the school and classes were held today.
Service was restored by mid-afternoon.
