Windsor school board members are considering an expansion project and renovation work at their high school facility.

The Board heard in September from representatives of GRP, a firm that could oversee the project.

Windsor Superintendent Erik Van Hoveln the work could include renovation of the gym lobby and renovation of the 1980 gym including air conditioning, new bleachers and electrical work. The project could also include a cafeteria off the north side of the building in an area between the school complex's two gyms. The work could also include a locker room and storage area.

Van Hoveln said the project is priced at an estimated $4 million. He said the Board asked GRP to make some changes and to return at the October meeting with additional information and design work.

The Windsor board also approved the attendance of two board members and Van Hoveln at the state school board convention in November; and discussed options for a senior class trip. The destination could include Washington, DC as well as Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and St.Louis. COVID didn't let students have as many opportunities to raise funds to pay for a trip, so the Board is looking at whether to help with the costs. The Board also adopted the district budget for the coming fiscal year.

In personnel moves, the Windsor board accepted the resignation of Bailey Leasher as an assistant junior high volleyball coach. Those hired include Kari Halbrook as a 5th and 6th grade Eco Team coach, Jodi Davidson as a junior high track coach, Kelsey Beard and Brach Miller as co-high school student council advisors, Whitney Babbs as elementary school student council advisor, Nic Brandenburg as high school Scholastic Bowl coach, and Valerie Corrie as 6th grade cheer coach. Shelby Beltz was granted a maternity leave.

The Board also approved memoranda of understanding with the Windsor Teachers Association regarding salaries of retired teachers, and a salary change for a retired teacher no longer on the salary schedule.
