Stewardson-Strasburg school board members agreed at this month's meeting to start the bidding process for a new bus barn.

The Board has been discussing a new facility for buses for some time.

Also this month, the Board approved the budget for the new fiscal year; extended the district's agreement with Bushue Human Resources through 2025; approved Chapman and Cutler for annual continuing disclosure of bonds to the State; and approved a change order from a three-year lease to an outright purchase of a 2018 model school bus.

Board members also approved an increase in substitute teacher pay to $110 per day; and also heard an update on an easement procurement for the sewage project. The District is working on running sewer service north from the school complex into Strasburg rather than operating their own treatment system at the school.

The Stew-Stras board also opened a new paraprofessional position, then approved a stipend of $38 for a part-time substitute route driver.
