Brownstown school board members this week approved the issuance of $237,000 in general obligation bonds.

Brownstown Superintendent Mike Shackelford said the bond revenue will be used for door replacement and repairs, gutter replacement, boosting the district's Working Cash Fund, and helping with a payment to the Egyptian Trust, as have several area districts.

The Board also approved the school district budget for the coming school year; agreed to continue participation in the Mid-West Truckers Association Drug and Alcohol Consortium; approved instructional coaching services through the Regional Office of Education; and approved a FFA trip to the national convention.

Board members also approved an increase in athletic officials' pay.
