Dieterich village board members continue to work to finalize the price for the Wright Family Center.

The facility, which will house a fitness center and daycare among other services for village residents, will soon be under construction and is to be completed under terms of a grant agreement in October of 2023. Bids for the facility, though, came in well over the estimated cost and work continues to pare the expenses for the Center

At this week's meeting, the Dieterich board approved a change order for a deduct of $410,240 as agreed on with AKRA Builders, but also approved additional expenses of $234,855 to construct a parking lot on the south side of the Center and an addition of $12,500 to cover Farnsworth Group's additional expenses to incorporate the value engineering changes that helped provide the deduct in cost. The Dieterich school district will reimburse the village for the cost of the parking lot work so the school district can use the lot, as well.

Also this week, the village board approved a letter of intent to authorize a lease of property in the Center with Brad and Jordan Jansen, who will operate Montessori Kids University once the Center is completed.

The Board also agreed to work to light the flagpole at the Dieterich Village Hall and to install lighting outside at the Village Hall with Robert Niebrugge Plumbing and Electric.

Dieterich board members also set Trick or Treat in Dieterich for Saturday, October 29, from 5 to 7pm.
