Effingham County 911 board members Tuesday approved the purchase of liability insurance coverage for the 911 furniture and hardware.

The purchase will cost about $100, and comes after a flood in June that did damage to the City dispatching point in the basement of City Hall earlier this year. The City is carrying coverage for the building. The coverage comes with a $50,000 deductible and will be in effect until the current coverage expires in October.

911 Board members also heard that Effingham County 911 will be taking 911 text calls from neighboring counties who aren't yet equipped to take the calls. The service will end once those neighboring counties' 911 text services go online.
