An attempted murder count has now been filed in Edwards County against an Altamont man.

42-year-old Sean Curtiss had been arrested on a felon in possession of a weapon charge for allegedly firing a gun that wounded Malinda Williams. The shooting occurred in a rural part of Edwards County on August 21. Williams was initially taken to the Mt. Carmel hospital before being airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for additional treatment.

In addition to the attempted murder count and the original charge, Curtiss has now been charged with aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He is next due in court on September 16 for a preliminary hearing on the counts.

Bond for Curtiss has been set at $1 million.
