Altamont Man Being Held in Edwards County Shooting

An Altamont resident is being held in connection with a weekend shooting incident.

42-year-old Sean Curtiss has been charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Edwards County State's Attorney Eric St. Ledger said he is considering additional charges as he reviews police reports of the incident.

The shooting incident occurred Sunday in a rural part of Edwards County, The victim of the shooting is Malinda Williams, a former Carmi resident. Williams was first taken to Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, then was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana where her condition is listed as stable.

Curtiss is also wanted on an Effingham County warrant for failure to appear in court on two felony driving while license suspended charges.

Curtiss is being held in White County Jail in Carmi. White County houses Edwards County inmates.
