Jasper County Cancer Survivor Celebration Set for July 20

The Jasper County Cancer Support group will be hosting the 2nd Annual Cancer Survivor Celebration starting at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Sunrise Community Center in Newton for any cancer survivor, current or in remission.  This will include the cancer survivor meal and free shirt for each survivor.  

At 2 p.m. this event will be open to the public with the following events taking place:

-2 p.m--Balloon Launch--Each survivor will release a balloon with their name and address on it and be acknowledged.  Also any person wishing to release a balloon in memory of a loved one can do so at this time.

-2:15--Cancer Survivors to speak and share their story.

-2:30-4:30--Entertainment, Silent Auction, and Basket Raffles. There will be a theme basket raffle and silent auction ongoing throughout the event where anyone can purchase tickets and names will be drawn at 4:30 p.m.  Any person wanting to donate a theme basket, please contact Jeanine Fell at 783-3714 or drop them off at her office located at 605 S. Van Buren Street, Tues, Wed, and Thursday 8:30-12 and 1-5.  You may also drop off your basket to Diane Schackmann at the Jasper County Unit One Office at 609 S. Lafayette Street the week of July 1, Monday-Friday 7:30-4:00.

Jasper County Cancer Support shirts will also be available to the public.  The shirt sizes are Youth XS, Youth S, & Youth M, Adult S,  M, L, & XL all for $10.00.  A limited number of sizes 2XL ,& 3XL are $12.00 each.  Each cancer survivor receives a FREE shirt!  All proceeds from the shirts sold go to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund.

Jasper County Cancer Support Fund was established in 2012 by a group of individuals wanting to help people that are diagnosed with cancer in Jasper County as a not-for-profit group looking to offer funds to individuals affected with cancer.  100% of all funds stay in Jasper County.  Contact Diane Schackmann at 618-752-2531 or Christy Gentry at 618-783-4436 with any questions/concerns about this fund or if you would like to sponsor the Jasper County Cancer Support Rally.
