Shelby County authorities are seeking a Utah man facing 33 criminal charges related to alleged sex crimes.

Shelby County State's Attorney Nichole Kroncke said her office filed the 33-count information against 21-year-old Carlo Oberg of Stansbury Park, Utah. Oberg faces 23 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of grooming, four counts of sexual exploitation of a child, and counts of traveling to meet a child, solicitation to meet a child, and luring of a minor.

Kroncke said it's alleged that between October 22 and October 25 of last year, Oberg traveled to Illinois to engage in unlawful sexual contact with a minor child after using a device capable of electronic data storage or transmission to seduce, solicit, lure or entice the minor. It's also alleged that Oberg possesses pornographic photos of the minor, and that Oberg intended to meet the minor, without the knowledge of her parents, for unlawful purposes.

It's also alleged that from June 2021 through February of this year, Oberg contacted the minor for the purpose of luring her away from her home for sexual contact. Also, Oberg is accused of attempting between September 2021 through February of this year of sending the minor photos of himself.

A nationwide no-bond warrant for Oberg's arrest has been issued.

The case was investigated by the Shelbyville Police Department and the Tooele County, Utah, Sheriff's Office. A court date will be scheduled once Oberg is in custody and extradited to Illinois for trial.
