Effingham's Bryan Kibler Monday was sworn in as Effingham County Resident Circuit Judge.

The ceremony took place at the Effingham County Government Center. Illinois Supreme Court Justice David Overstreet administered the oath of office. Other speakers included 4th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Douglas Jarman, Associate Judge Kevin Parker, and Monsignor Kenneth Steffen.

Near the conclusion of the event, Judge Kibler approached the podium, telling friends, family and well-wishers who had gathered that was deeply humbled by the moment...

Kibler's resignation as Effingham County State's Attorney was effective Monday, as well. Rob Scales was appointed by the Effingham County Board last week as Interim State's Attorney. The Effingham County Republican Central Committee is to make a recommendation as to Kibler's successor as State's Attorney by month's end.
