Authorities are investigating the death of an area woman earlier this week, but say foul play is not suspected.

Early Sunday morning, 39-year-old Rebecca Braun was found unresponsive by a roommate at their residencein Newton.  Emergency medical services were notified and Braun was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital ER in Effingham.  Braun was pronounced dead a short time later, and the Effingham County Coroner's Office was notified.

Initial investigation disclosed no obvious cause of death.  An autopsy was conducted Tuesday, but an obvious cause of death could still not be determined.  Final autopsy results and toxicology tests are pending.

The investigation continues by the Coroner's Office and the Newton Police Department.
