Fatal Shooting Friday in Olney

An Olney man shot Friday night has died from his injuries.

41-year-old Christopher Laird was shot about 11:30pm Friday at the intersection of Richland Street and Monroe Street in Olney. Laird was transported to Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney where he died.

Illinois State Police Crime Scene and Investigation units were called in to investigate the incident. 

The Olney Police Department said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and indicated there was no reason to believe there any threat to the Olney community.
