Shelby County authorities made a water rescue around noon Wednesday.

Shelby County EMA Coordinator Troy Agney said a car ended up in floodwaters in an area south and west of Shelbyville. Agney said the incident in an area where a drowning occurred in recent years. This time, no one was injured.

Agney said the Cowden resident apparently disregarded signs warning that water was over the roadway and drove into the flooded area.

Shelby County Dive Team members and Shelby County sheriff's deputies worked together to utilize an inflatable raft to reach the man and rescue him from the waters. Agney said the man, whose name was not available, was taken to Shelbyville for evaluation. None of the dive team members or deputies were injured.
